Water volume - Introduction in Database guideline

These instructions aim to provide guidance to Certification Bodies (CBs) on how to record in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database (DB) the volume of water used by producers to grow SPRING products for the assessment cycle. The concept of volume of water, refers to the amount of water used for irrigation for a specific product, per hectare, per year.

The objective of collecting this information is to store aggregated data to measure the impact that the add-on might have in the water consumption for the different productive regions and products.

As indicated in SPRING v2 General Regulations, Annex I Data Access Rules (Image 1), SPRING is an add-on to core solutions and therefore visible to market participants with the relevant access rights as defined by the Data Access Rules. The volume of water in cubic meters is to be shared per hectare, per year, and will be visible to Market Participants, in addition to the CB itself (trustee) and the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat.

Instructions for registration in the DB

When recording the water volume in the DB, CBs need to consider the following:

Individual Producer (option 1 with or without QMS))

1. The water volume shall be indicated separately for all the different products included in the SPRING Letter of Conformance (LoC).
2. The water volume introduced shall be the summatory of all sites for each specific product.

The water volume must be the one recorded for the last 12 months

Producer Group (option 2)

1. In addition to the above, the water volume shall be indicated separately for each producer group member included in the SPRING LoC.
2. The total sum of water volume used by all producer group members per crop shall be recorded at producer group level as seen in image 3.

Example:

In a PG with these members 

M1 Blueberry 1000 m3

M2 Raspberry 500 m3

M3 Strawberry 1000 m3

We need to record it at member level (per product)

M1 Blueberry 900 m3

M2 Raspberry 700 m3

M3 Strawberry 1100 m3  

M3 Raspberry 800 m3

And also at PG level (per product)

PG Blueberry 1900 m3

PG Raspberry 2000 m3

PG Strawberry 2100 m3
