GLOBALG.A.P. Number/Global Location Number

The GLOBALG.A.P. Number (GGN) is a 13-digit number assigned by the GLOBALG.A.P. Database for identification of legal entities registered in the Database.

Please, see more detailed information in General Regulations Part I – General Requirements, ANNEX I.1 RULES FOR THE USE OF GLOBALG.A.P. TRADEMARK AND LOGO, 3. GLOBALG.A.P. NUMBER.

The Global Location Number (GLN) is assigned by GS1, the international standards organization, and is officially registered with GS1 at www.gs1.org.

The following rules are valid:
a) If the legal entity has an own GLN, this GLN is registered in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database
b) If the legal entity does not have an own GLN, they will be assigned a GGN
c) If the legal entity would get an own GLN after being assigned a GGN, GLN shall replace GGN in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database

How to replace GGN with GLN?

Please, go to Masterdata Producer/Producergroup then search for GGN, select the right one.

After that enter a Company GLN and save changes.

Is a GLN valid if it doesn´t appear in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database?

The GLN (i.e. Global Location Number) is a number that corresponds to a physical location of a legal entity i.e. it is like an identity of the location of an entity. A holder of a GLN is not necessarily certified against GLOBALG.A.P. Only if a product label has a GGN (GLOBALG.A.P. number) on it, then it can be verified whether the holder of the GGN is currently certified or not via the GLOBALG.A.P. database. However, if a GLOBALG.A.P. certified entity owns a GLN then the GLN will replace the GGN and this can also be verified on the GLOBALG.A.P. database.
