The options describe who owns and sells which product.
If a single producer owns and sells a product directly to the market, then their own products are certified as option 1 or 3.
The same applies for producer groups: If a group cultivates and sells its own product - a different one than the product of the cooperative - , this product is certified as option 1 or 3.
The individual producer is the certificate holder once certified.
If a single producer cultivates a product, but then as a group member sells it to a producer group who then markets the product, the product of this single producer is registered and accepted under option 2 or 4. This product of the producer group is then certified under option 2 or 4.
Also the group itself can grow this (the same) product on its own (or rented) fields - however this cannot be registered in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database. Though it has to be listed in the annex of the paper certificate.
The producer group is the certificate holder once certified.
